Hi, my name is

December 7, 2005     Hyderabad, Telangana

Fathima Begum lives in Hyderabad with her family. Fathima’s favourite colour is purple and she likes to dance with her friends. When she grows up, Fathima wants to be a teacher. Fathima’s father works at a welding shop. Sadly, he recently suffered a heart attack and cannot work as much as he did before due to his poor health. When he does work he only manages to earn about 300 rupees a day. On average, Fathima’s father earns 6,000 rupees each month – that’s only $120 CAD. Fathima’s mother started working from home, slicing areca nut after her husband’s heart attack, but barely earns 40 rupees a day, which is less than $1 CAD. Fathima’s family lives in single room which they rent for 3,000 rupees each month. They are forced to share a washroom with more than 20 other people. The ceiling of their home is made out of tin. Fathima’s parents want her to have a better life, but they are not sure how much longer they will be able to pay her tuition. Fathima’s dream is to become a teacher and help others.

Every child deserves an education. If you sponsor this child today, SAF CANADA can make sure her family’s financial difficulties do not affect Fathima’s future. Educating young girls is especially important because it protects them from early child marriages and allows them to live their lives without being dependent on others. Lifting women and children out of poverty is a key step to ending poverty worldwide as they are the ones who constitute a majority of the world’s poor. Your monthly contribution will cover her tuition fees, school supplies, textbook costs, and medical expenses for the child or any member of her immediate family. Sponsor Fathima today and join SAF CANADA in the fight against poverty.

Make a difference in my life for just $35.00 a month!
